Welcome to Wilmington Home of Whiteface Mountain and the legendary West Branch of the Au Sable River in the Adirondacks of New York
New York's Adirondack Park includes over 6 million acres of protected land, 30,000 miles of brooks & streams, 6,000 miles of rivers, and nearly 3,000 lakes & ponds. There are 46 mountains that rise above 4,000 feet, known as the "High Peaks".
Whiteface Mountain is the 5th highest, most northerly, and easily accessible of the High Peaks with a summit elevation of 4,867 feet.
June is Race Month
Whether you're the type that likes to pound the pavement, exerting every muscle of your body, or the type that enjoys the thrill of pumping your strength with every rotation of your tires, the Whiteface Mountain Uphill Races are for you.
The course allows you to climb 3,500 feet up the scenic Whiteface Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway to the top of New York's 5th highest peak for a 360 degree panoramic view of the Adirondacks, New England and Canada.
These well established races are organized and run annually by the Whiteface Mountain Regional Visitors Bureau and through the efforts of countless volunteers and local businesses. Our race route allows you to take in these beautiful mountains and world famous fly fishing AuSable River.
It is our pleasure to promote tourism in our small town and to support the local businesses that are always willing to help volunteer at our events. In addition to many motels and restaurants we offer several gift shops and attractions. Ask any of the hundreds of athletes that participate in our events and stay in our town every year what an awesome experience it is, and they will tell you there is no mountain and no town like Whiteface in Wilmington, New York.
June of 2008 will mark the 31st Annual Uphill Footrace and the 7th Annual Uphill Bike Race for Whiteface Mountain. We are very excited and hope you will be joining us either as an athlete or as a spectator here to enjoy the comfort and beauty of our region.
